CA 4 Blog 2

I think that I am getting to the point where I will be prepared for a 21st century teaching and learning experience. I believe that when it comes to the technology side of working all the different operations that are out there I feel very confident in working them. I feel this way because as a young person I think my generation has a very good understanding of technology. I think there is still a lot to learn about how to incorporate all this technology into the classroom and make it effective for student learning. I think in other aspects of how prepared I am that I have a ways to go before I feel I will be ready to be let loose in a classroom.
I believe that yes students graduate from high school equipped for success using their 21st century skills. However I don't know how much of this know-how comes from the education system and how much of it comes from the students figuring things out on their own. Students know how to use more tech in their daily lives just by playing around with it and being exposed to it as much as they are.
I think the biggest challenges with teaching in the 21st century will be keeping up with the different tech that comes out and how to use it in the classroom. Using new tech will help keep kids engaged and will be crucial for teachers to stay up on to help students learn.

This blog is designed for me to answer certain questions that I will be assigned throughout my school semester. If anyone other then my peers or professor actually reads this I apologize if it is boring.

Am I afraid of technology? No I really am not afraid of it at all, it is an ever evolving organism that is really cool to be a part of and grow with. I think that technology is something that can be used in a very positive way or in a negative way depending on how responsible the user chooses to use it. I think that Tech could be scary in the hands of a irresponsible user but overall it is something that can be very useful for all people.

What barriers are there for use of technology in schools? I think that there are two big hurdles that schools face when trying to incorporate technology into school. The first of these is funding and money, schools find it really hard to find the money they need to provide enough equipment for students to learn. They also can't seem to justify it in some cases because once they buy something within two year it will be outdated. The other issues that schools face is making sure that all students have an opportunity to use and master a technology.

My personal goals for this class are to become more knowledgeable in areas that will make me a better teacher when it comes to technology.
